Spectrometer Nickname: AVX500 (not to be used in publications)
Location: CRL 00.086 (basement NMR lab)
Spectrometer, probe and software specifications: Bruker AVIII HD 500 MHz spectrometer running TopSpin 3 with a 5 mm triple-resonance TBO probe with multinuclear capability. This can provide H/F/X experiment combinations e.g. 13C with simultaneous 1H and 19F decoupling.
Variable temperature capabilities: BCU-II temperature regulation unit for work down to 233 K, with liquid nitrogen heat exchanger or evaporator for super low-temperature work. Temperature range is approximately 193 - 373 K, depending on the set-up.
Sample changer: 24-position Bruker SampleCase robotic sample changer
Access level: It operates as a bookable instrument for 'hands on' organic trained users and NMR facility staff under automation and/or manual control
Experiments: Routine 1H and 13C based 1D and 2D experiments as well as (but not limited to) 19F, 31P, 11B, 27Na, 29Si, diffusion-based experiments as well as H/F/X combination experiments e.g. 13C with simultaneous 1H and 19F decoupling.

Spectrometer details for publication requirements: NMR spectra were recorded on a Bruker AVIII HD 500 MHz NMR spectrometer, equipped with a 5 mm triple-resonance TBO H/F/X probe using the software TopSpin (version 3, Bruker BioSpin). It was funded as an instrument upgrade by the EPSRC as part of the Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Synthesis for Biology and Medicine.
